About Katy
Katy has always been an artist. She combines her real life experiences with her imagination. She specializes in acrylic painting after she made an experimental mural in her childhood bedroom that depicted ancient ruins overtaken by jungle. Her artwork is a combination of her connection to nature, her bold colors and her vision of humanity living in harmony with each other and nature.
Katy makes most of her paintings on canvas but also paints indoor murals and large outdoor chalk murals, which often feature birds and flowers. She has several series of paintings, most are inspired by nature, like her Sun series, Tropical Forest series and Big Cat series. She also has a series called Vivid Passion, which depicts humans in bold rainbow-like colors, representing all the beautiful colors people can be, interacting with one or more brightly colored hands, personifying a divine creator, which is holding something symbolizing nature, such as flowers, fruits or even earth.
She worked as an art teacher for a nonprofit and taught adults with disabilities independence and coping techniques; later she worked as an art therapy associate in a hospital and made art with cancer patients that helped them express their feelings in artistic ways. Her passion to help others discover the solace they can find through the practice and appreciation of the arts continues to be Katy’s deep-rooted passion.
